What makes a professional videographer?

Mike Picard

A professional wedding videographer should be able to show up on your day and capture all the best moments of your day without being in the way. They need to be in the right places at the right time so they're able to get the shot.

What is the difference between a professional and a family friend?

Mike Picard

The difference between a professional and a family friend, a professional will have all the right gear. They're going to know exactly what's going to happen on a wedding They have the experience of doing this for many, many years. So therefore, when the event is about to start and things are about to happen, they're already there, ready to catch the action.

How should you present yourself?

Mike Picard

A professional videographer should be presentable and blend in with the crowd. We don't want to stand out. They shouldn't be wearing sneakers. They shouldn't be wearing jeans. They shouldn't be wearing flannel shirts. They shouldn't be wearing loud colors. By hiring a professional wedding videographer, they will blend in and look proper and not stand out.

Why do couples need a videographer?

Mike Picard

Having a wedding videographer at your wedding is extremely important. Today, everything is video. You can always look at your pictures, but to get back a toast, hearing it in action, listening to your vows repeated, watching yourself coming down the aisle, watching your first dance, another item, you have to see it in motion.  Who doesn't want to re-hear all the jokes and the crazy things we hear in toasts?

How many videographers are usually there?

Mike Picard

When you go through and hire a professional videographer company, you really want to make sure there's a minimum of two people on the job. There's just way too many things that happen on a wedding day that are going on that you're really going to want to see down the road. And by having multiple people, you'll be able to capture those. There are many different things that happen at the same time during a wedding. You have cocktail hour, detail shots of the ballroom, and formal portraits, all happening at the same time. How are you going to get all those shots where there's just one person with one camera?

When do couples get their video?

Mike Picard

You should really be getting your video back within six months. Anything above and beyond the six month mark, a couple will start to reach out and start asking where their wedding video is, and that's not something that a couple should be worried about.

How do you know where to take the couple for the best shots?

Mike Picard

A true professional will know the venue. Even if they don't know the venue, when they get there, they instantly can tell exactly where the right spots are going to be to take the bride and groom to do formal portraits and some video work.  So hiring a professional wedding video company is something every couple should consider if you want to watch your wedding video for years to come.
