What makes a professional bridal shop?

Ivory Bridal

So what makes a professional bridal shop is one that has stylists who are going to understand about the current trends in bridal fashion, as well as some of the traditions to have high-quality goods, garments that are going to be attractive to all types of brides with all different types of taste. And the place that has the highest customer service. This is a once-in-a-lifetime purchase, and you want to have the customer service that you're looking for to make the experience fabulous.

What style of dress should I get?

Ivory Bridal

So if you go with a professional stylist, they're going to be able to look at your body type and style and sort of meld them together to find the most perfect dress for you. Their tastes are their personal preference, but if you have someone who's able to bring that out of you and put it together with the dress that fits your body style, you're going to have a great experience.

Can I make changes to my dress?

Ivory Bridal

For the most part, at a professional bridal salon, you're going to be able to make some tweaks and changes to your dress, like adding a sleeve or putting buttons down the back or lining it if it's see-through on top. But there are lots of things that make it your own. And we always like to say, if you make some sort of custom changes to it, it's going to be your dress and nobody else's. And 99.999% of brides are going to need some alterations. So, you need to keep that in mind when you are getting your budget together to purchase your dress.

What is the typical deposit on a dress?

Ivory Bridal

So, unless you're buying a dress off the rack, that means going to the store, picking it out, and taking it home with you. Most bridal salons are going to require a deposit on a dress, and that can average anywhere from 50 to 70% down so that the salon can send your deposit to the designer, so it'll arrive in time for your big day.

How soon should I get my dress?

Ivory Bridal

We tell our brides that a nine to 12-month window is the perfect timeline for picking out their dress, getting it in, and saving time for alterations at the end. That way, you're not rushing into a decision, and you're not rushing at the end to make sure that your dress is perfect for you on your wedding day. Make sure that when you are shopping for your gown, you go to a reputable, professional store, one that's going to have your dress, but also give you the experience that you and your family have been looking for your entire life.
