Wedding Decor
Interview Transcript
Why is decor important?
Alex
So decor can tie a wedding together. Decor, you can come in, you can completely transform a space with decor, and a lot of people don't know. There's a lot of different types of decor. There's physical decor, there's lighting, there's signs, there's combinations of those, and there's a lot of options to be able to create an experience with decor.
What do decor companies provide?
Alex
There's lighting that can be decor, such as bistro lighting, uplighting. There's also physical decor items like signs, marquee letters. Even an audio guest book could be considered decor. Ultimately, the decor providers are your expert. We're here to help you figure out what it is that you need for decor and help you design the wedding that you dream of.
If you have decor outside, how do you handle it in inclement weather?
Alex
So when decor is outside, and this is something that I think a lot of people miss, is inside versus outside decor are two very different things in the eyes of a decor company. Different pieces of decor have different levels of weather resistance. So marquee letters can handle a little bit of water, like a sprinkle, whereas bistro lights, generally they can get drenched, and it's really not gonna matter as long as everything is properly grounded electrically and safe.
Who sets up and breaks down the decor?
Alex
We always set up and break down the decor. We get a lot of people asking us specifically, "Oh, can I pick it up and set it up myself?" With the amount of nuance that goes into our setups, we have to be on site there to set everything up, especially if we run into any issues. Broken bulbs in transportation, a wire gets pulled the wrong way and something breaks. Fixing those issues requires a fully trained delivery and setup technician.
What happens if there is a malfunction during the event?
Alex
I am personally very big on redundancy and planning for backup equipment and redundant systems so that if something goes wrong, we have a chance to fix it. And if something goes wrong during the event, there are systems set up on how we can get that fixed so that the event can continue to go on.
