I am Rick. And I'm Robin, and we are from the Arthur Murray Dance Center in Swansea, Massachusetts.
Our goal is to teach people to dance. You know, we get a lot of couples that come in that they want that first dance to look great, and we want that for them too. But we also want to teach them not just to learn how to dance to one song, because otherwise they better hope they play that song wherever they go for the rest of their life. Right? So we really teach our couples to dance comfortably together.
One of the things that makes our dance center unique from other dance centers is we got away from competition dancing a long time ago. We just learned that most couples aren't coming to us because they want to be competitive dancers. Most couples are coming to us because they want to have fun date nights, or they want to learn how to dance for a special occasion. Yeah, for social purposes. Social purposes, yes.
The dances that we teach here at Arthur Murray's are all the social dances, which include all the ballroom dances, Latin dancing, and swing. The biggest thing for us is we want to help them feel more comfortable and confident on the dance floor. So the day of the wedding, everything looks natural, but we also want to make sure that they're having fun along the way. That's definitely one of my biggest goals is to make sure every time a couple comes into our studio, they're having fun.
All right. We started going because we wanted to look good for our wedding dance, but it was so much fun. We just kept coming back, and we've been really enjoying it. It's such a blast and it's such a great way for us to bond and do something different. You know, everybody made us feel really comfortable and really like, you know, like they wanted to be our friends. It just has felt like home since we've met a lot of great couples, learned a lot of new things.
Those are fun stories for me where it actually affects somebody's life and makes it better. And I love that and I love that dancing can do that for people. The way that we start people off is with the simple introductory private lesson. The cost is $39 and 90 cents. There's no further obligation other than to come in and try the lesson. It includes a 45-minute private session.
But we also get a lot of parents of brides and grooms that come in, because the truth is they're a big part of that wedding, and it's their family and friends that are at that wedding too. So they play an important role as host and hostess. So, we love having parents come in, and we also enjoy working with complete wedding parties. I think that's so much fun, and when everybody in the wedding party learns just some basic dance moves. I mean, what makes a wedding fun when people are up and dancing?
