How do you create a unique makeup experience for each bride?

A professional makeup artist makes a unique experience by getting to know their bride.

What her preferences are, what her skin issues or type is also what her personal style is because I think that says a lot about people's makeup preferences.

Things that a lot of people won't ask and won't take the time to get to know. You should feel like this is your girlfriend, that you've known her for years and you've had the best experience, and that you can't wait to talk to her again or see her again. It should be like a long lost friend in the end.
How do you take care of the bride leading up to the event day?

Yeah. So preparing for makeup can look anywhere from taking phone calls again, getting to know that bride, taking the time out so they feel comfortable with you

And then closer to finalizing all those details once all their other details are finalized with their vendors. Really locking in your final details, your schedule, who you're working with for hair, and kind of really keeping all those lines of communication open so that everything is signed, sealed, and delivered for the big day.
Do you use makeup the bride provides?

So I myself, as a makeup artist, and I think a lot of other artists in this industry as well, share the same opinion that we really prefer to use our own products as opposed to products that a client or a bride might bring in.

Because if you have an Estee Lauder Foundation from 1997, those ingredients have expired. And for me to use that product on your wedding day, on a special event, it is not going to hold up to its longevity.
What is the best tip you can give for a bride?

One of the biggest tips I can give you is to please hydrate, please drink water, please make sure you have a skincare regimen in place. If you don't, a lot of makeup artists will provide you with a bridal skin prep kit, a bridals do and don't. So that's so important that you are taking care of your skin.

Because, at the end of the day, your makeup is only as good as your skin. So if your skin's not good, the makeup is not going to look its best.
