Established in 1960 by Robert and Gloria Messerlian, the company continued to evolve when their son Paul Messerlian came onboard full-time in 1987. Paul expanded the retail division into what has become one of Rhode Island’s largest and most premier jewelry stores. Paul’s daughter, Janina Messerlian, joined the company in 2018 to carry the family business forward and into the future. Now in our sixth decade, we believe the reason we’ve been around so long is because we’ve never taken for granted, not for one moment, the honor and trust our customers bestow on us when they choose our jewelry to express their love and joy.  Thank you for putting your trust in Baxter’s. To celebrate our 30th Anniversary, my wife and I worked with Sarkis to design a custom ring utilizing diamonds from her present ring as well as added diamonds. The process was a great experience, with a very knowledgeable staff to help. The ring came out amazing, exactly as designed. Also want to thank Mike and Paulina for their help in the process making you feel like family and friends along the way. Would totally recommend Baxters and their staff. They have clients for life with us.

First let me say this about the company: I spent A LOT of time doing A LOT of research on engagement diamonds. I am very thorough and meticulous when it comes to these types of decisions. I went to countless stores all around new England and even had some calls with people across the US. However, nothing honestly compared to Baxters. Joe and the rest of the staff were incredibly patient and took amazing care of me. They not only helped me make the right decision, but they educated me on what the right thing was to do even if it wasn’t as advantageous to their business. I can tell that they care more about the customer experience and their reputation then what they do about their bottom line. Which more business should do because now I am recommending them to everyone, and I won’t go anywhere else to buy any other jewelry. My only regret about my experience with Baxters was not trusting them sooner. If I could do it all again, I would have forgone going anywhere else and just made the decision to solely work with them from the very beginning. They have the buying power and connections you need to be able to get the diamonds you want at a great price. They also have the infrastructure to be able to execute whatever design you choose and provide the best level of service. To get to the point about the ring: I compared pricing, service, and quality up against all the highly rated locations in the northeast and they won hands down. They got me the best diamonds, at a great price and built me a CUSTOM ring right in the store. I know everyone loves their engagement rings, but this custom ring they made for me is AMAZING. I am not exaggerating when I say my fiancé gets stopped every week from people commenting on it… waitress at the restaurant, store attendant at the airport, people at the gym, yoga instructor, and the list goes on… This is the only review I have ever written about any purchase in my whole life because I am that adamant about my experience with Baxters. This is my way of giving back for the wonder gift I received. Do yourself a favor and go here. Have them build you something uniquely special that you will cherish forever.

Hi, I’m Paul, owner of Baxter’s Fine Jewelry in Warwick and I’m his daughter, Janina, third generation of Baxter’s. Couples should choose Baxter’s Fine Jewelry because we’re the best at what we do, it’s in our blood. We’ve been doing this since I was a small kid. There’s differences between jewelers that buy and sell jewelry and there’s jewelers that know how to make jewelry and we know how to do both.

We just renovated our showroom and nearly doubled the size. We’re at a 12,000 square-foot showroom now. I’ve taken over a lot of the buying for the store. Between me and my dad it’s really just become endless options.

We have expanded into watches which is a new category for us. It’s been doing extremely well, and our customers really love to have that addition in the store.

At Baxter’s, we’re a full-service jeweler. We offer complicated repairs with laser machines and technology that other jewelers might not have. Plus, the skill we have with the multiple jewelers that we have at different levels, we can solve almost any problem.

We have laser engraving machines and we have diamond scratching machines. Anything new that comes out, we have it.

We also offer appraisals and custom jewelry so if you’re getting a piece made here or it’s something you’ve had in your family for generations, we can help you revive that piece or make it into something new and then also give you paperwork so that you can ensure its safety and pass it down for generations.

We do everything 100% and if we can’t, then we won’t do it. We really have invested in what means the most to us. From everything from our jewelry to even our coffee. So, I say my dad was jittery for months going around the state trying to find the best coffee bean. So we have a Fifth C coffee shop in house, so you’re welcome to come in and lounge and while you’re waiting for your repair, have a nice cup of coffee.

Our custom design center is brand new in the store. We’ve got a CAD department here, 3-D printers. We have everything in house to be able to provide you with the best options that are out there. Being a third-generation jeweler, we have people whose children are now shopping here and their children’s children and it’s amazing to see that lineage coming through the front door.

We have three words that we stand for, it’s called comfortable, trusting relationships and that’s kind of our mission statement. And it’s not only for our customers but also our employees and the vendors that we deal with. We want our customers to be totally satisfied with their purchase. We want them to be our friends. We want them to come back, we want to hear their stories, and we want to really be involved with everything and a part of their lives.
