My name is Sydney Tessaglia, and my company name is Brushed by Syd. What makes me unique and different from other makeup artists is, I take a collaborative approach with my clients. So I make sure they're included in the entire process. It's not like I'm just applying makeup to your face and handing you the mirror. You are actively getting swatches put on your hands and you're getting to see textures and tones of products. So you're making the decision throughout the entire process along with me.
I come from a retail background, so I think that's super important because I've dealt with all different skin tones, all different ages, all different ethnicities, and it's really nice because I do have the education from a lot of the brands over the course of a decade where I have a lot of brand education. So I'm familiar with a lot of ingredients. I'm familiar with a lot of brands and their training, which makes me different from a lot of other makeup artists in the industry.
I think I have a very calm demeanor on wedding day. I like to make sure that the bride has had hydration throughout the day and has eaten something. I do keep snacks and water for my brides that come from out of state because we don't want any cranky brides either. So we want to make sure that everyone is happy, but also that they still feel heard. And what we did at the trial still resonates with them today. So we want to touch base and make sure that everything you know, is still what they're looking for to do. And it's fine to make tweaks on wedding day. You just have to communicate with us.
I love it. I love it. She's so good. I travel throughout Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. I'm definitely open to destination weddings, although I haven't had one yet, but you never know what the future may hold.
I do have a team of artists under me that all have over a decade of experience as well, so we are able to accommodate larger bridal parties. My end goal is to make sure that the bride feels like a friend, like they feel like they have worked with me before, they've known me before, and that they are truly happy with how they look and feel.
The feeling is more important than the look itself, and a lot of people don't understand that. I think it's important to invest in your vendors and make sure you are truly on the same page with them.
